Available disk space and download size are different

Steam describes 2 GB and 4 GB as available-space requirements. They should not be relabelled as the exact compressed download size, an update size, or the space occupied by every future version. Check the current installation information shown by your Steam client when you install. [1]

Compare the exact components before changing settings

A higher model number in another product family is not enough to establish equivalence. This guide does not supply untested benchmark comparisons or predict exact FPS from the component list.

  • Record the operating-system version and whether it is 64-bit.
  • Check installed RAM rather than relying on an old purchase description.
  • Record the exact graphics-card and processor models.
  • Compare those models with the developer’s stated requirements.
  • Note free storage and the current game version before investigating a crash.

Read the DirectX recommendation alongside patch notes

The requirements table lists DirectX 11 at minimum and DirectX 12 as recommended. Separately, patch 1.0.4 says the Windows default was changed to DirectX 11 to address AMD crashes; it documents a launch option for players deliberately choosing DirectX 12. The requirements entry alone is therefore not a reason to force a different renderer while troubleshooting. [1][2]

Native Windows requirements do not certify another platform

The checked catalogue lists Windows as the native platform, with macOS and Linux set to false. A Proton compatibility report does not turn those Windows requirements into a native Linux release, and matching PC specifications does not establish a Steam Deck rating. [1]

Requirements are a starting point for performance diagnosis

The developer’s 1.0.3 notes describe optimisation work affecting large bases, driving and terrain loading. That shows why a result can depend on the world and activity being tested, not just on the headline GPU model. The developer’s own improvement figure is not treated as a promised gain on your PC. [3]

  • Describe the scene: a fresh world, a large base, driving or a multiplayer session.
  • Keep resolution and settings with any reported frame rate.
  • Separate a failure to launch from low FPS during an otherwise working session.
  • Use the crash/performance guide for diagnosis rather than assuming a hardware upgrade is the only answer.
